Comfort versus growth. It’s a question that I started to ponder, as I was reading a book called A Gift of Love by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It’s a compilation of his sermons, during the Civil Rights Movement, and he talked about – don’t choose the path of comfort. He talked about the path of comfort as being evil and not loving and so, I come back to this. As a business leader, do we want comfort or do we want growth? And what I mean by that is, are we making our employees too comfortable? As leaders, are we trying to make our environments and the job more comfortable for our employees? And by doing that, are we doing them a disservice? Should we be putting our employees in situations that are outside of their comfort zone in order to help them grow? So again it comes back to a question of, do we want comfort or do we want growth? And I think at the end of the day, as a business leader, we want our employees to grow. We want them to become better employees and better people, and further their careers. And if that is the case, I think we need to stop and think. Are the environments we’re putting them in, are they designed for their comfort? Or are they designed for their growth?
